Living in Carlsbad, Ca is one of the more beautiful and popular cities in the San Diego County area. Comprised of 40 square miles of the most desired real estate areas in California. Carlsbad is not all land however. It is actually 37.4 square miles of land and 3.4 square miles of lake and lagoon. Like all cities, the area had its humble beginnings and it had to start somewhere. The history of it is unique and interesting.
Back in the very early days of Carlsbad, Ca it was first known as just a whistle stop as part of the California Southern Railroad. Around the 1880′s a man by the name of John Frazier dug a well in Carlsbad just several hundred yards from the beach and made his living selling water to the steam engines and to its thirsty passengers. Frazier later decided to dig a second well. Unpredictably, the water contained the same unique properties that some of the most famous spas in Europe had. It began to be known as Frazier’s Mineral well. His famous water led to a small bottling works operation and a 100-room hotel called what else but the Mineral Springs Hotel. That very infamous well site is part of a memorabilia museum at the Art Karlsbad Hanse House at 2802 Carlsbad Boulevard in Carlsbad.
Soon during that approximate time period, the town was finally named Carlsbad. But it was only a short time that the name held. The town took the name Carlsbad away and just named it “Carl” to eliminate the apparent confusion of anther train station located in Carlsbad, New Mexico. An easy way to get confused when trains and train stations were a way of life. The town eventually renamed it back to Carlsbad where farmers moved in to take advantage of the fertile land to grow avocados, citrus fruits and olives. Certain areas produced better than other areas depending what was grown. Slightly inward from the coast olives grew best in an area near Encinitas, CA. Although the olives did not grow well at all in the local soil, they still named a town after the olives, Olivenhain.
Eventually, land prices fell in the latter part of the 1880′s due to economic factors, but most of the residents survived by the cattle trade and the promising agricultural industry. Today one can see Carlsbad’s history as local landmarks. The Old Santa Fe Depot, built in 1907 is not only historic but it is on the National Register of Historic places. It is located just adjacent to the most western part of Carlsbad Blvd. Another local popular historical attraction is the Ocean House Restaurant. Locals will always think of it as “Neimans” restaurant. It was once named the Twin Inn’s because of a twin building was across the street, but was torn down after a fire destroyed most of it.

Here at Carlsbad MacNet Computer Repair, we started working on Mac computers when it was the Mac operating system 8.5. If you are an “experienced” Mac user than you realize just how unstable that operating system was with all the system crashes. These days the Mac operating system is Unix based. This is a very stable operating system with the familiar Macintosh look and feel built on top of it. That does not mean that it is not without its occasional problems. Sometimes you can experience what is called a Kernel Panic. It’s that very non Mac looking text that scrolls up your screen, or the message the says, “You need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button for several seconds or press the Restart button”. There can be many reasons for this event but some of the more common ones are data corruption, RAM problems, and motherboard errors. If you experience this Mac problem on your computer, just call us and we will know just what to do. Our Carlsbad computer Mac repair services are local and responsive.
